Michael Lee Porter
Michael graduated from the National Academy of Singing and
Dramatic Art in Christchurch in 1995 and has worked as an actor, musical
director and pit musician ever since.
At the Court Theatre he has appeared in The Female of the Species, Guys and Dolls, Oliver!, The Rocky Horror Show, South Pacific, and My Fair Lady. He also musically directed and appeared in Cabaret, Kiss Me Kate, Old Wicked Songs, Mum's Choir, Flagons & Foxtrots, and Bombshells. At the Fortune Theatre he has musically directed and appeared in Dirty Weekends, Old Wicked Songs, Nunsense Jamboree, The Jungle Book, The Wind in the Willows, The Taming of the Shrew, The Pied Piper and co-directed A Slice of Saturday Night. For NASDA he musically directed City of Angels, Baby, Bat Boy, Marat Sade, My Favorite Year, The World Goes Round, Once on this Island, The Happy Prince, and composed the music for The Trial.
Michael has recently returned from the 2 year Australasian tour of Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera and the Korean tour of Jekyll and Hyde. He also was assistant director for the Australasian premiere of The Light in the Piazza. He has just appeared in Sweeney Todd for Peach Productions in Auckland.
