Angela Johnson
Angela’s career both as a performer and
teacher in Musical Theatre has spanned over 25 years. After graduating from the
University of Canterbury and gaining her Licentiate (solo singing) from Trinity
College, Angela headed to Australia to continue her training and to work in the
industry.

Arts Centre), Fiddler on the Roof (Australian Opera), Into the Woods (Sydney Theatre Company), The Phantom of the Opera (Cameron Mackintosh Productions), Cats (The Ascot Group/ Really Useful Company (NZ Tour), The Secret Garden (The Ascot Group, NZ Tour), A Grand Night For Singing (Footbridge Theatre, Sydney), Chess (Macpherson Productions), Crusade (Picture This Productions Melbourne Concert Hall), Funny Girl (The Production Company, Melbourne Concert Hall), The Sound of Music (GFO/SEL, Australian tour)
For the Court Theatre in Christchurch, Angela has appeared in My Fair Lady, South Pacific and Jerry’s Girls. At the Fortune theatre in Dunedin she has appeared in The Jungle Book which she also choreographed as well as A Slice of Saturday Night. For Canterbury Opera Angela performed the role of Mrs Anderssen in A Little Night Music.
For the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra Angela has appeared as guest soloist on many occasions including More Lloyd Webber and Friends, Superstars, Love is in the Air, Broadway Broads and most recently in A Tribute to Rodgers and Hammerstein and A Tribute to Bernstein and Sondheim.
Angela has tutored for two summers at the Central City Music Theatre School in Auckland and she was also a singing tutor and choreographer at the 2011 NZ National Singing School in Napier. A member of NEWZATS, Angela has most recently been elected to their council.
Angela is the Course leader for the singing programme at NASDA and has directed a number of musicals for the programme.
